Expressing its respect and appreciations toward the Afghan women, Etisalat Afghanistan also celebrated this day by sponsoring an event held in Kabul. The event was organized in cooperation with the Journalists and Correspondents Union of Afghanistan and was attended by dignities from the Ministry of Women`s Affairs, ِDeputy Ministry of Youth Affairs, Etisalat Afghanistan and a larg number of journalists.
Addressing the gathering Mr. Hafizullah Barekzai, first vice president of JCUA said,” We should not forget that women are half of the society and no society is complete without the participation of women. “He also added,” We must pave the way for women to come forward and stand shoulder by should with men and to do this we should support their programs and societies, I would also like to express my gratitude and thank Etisalat Afghanistan for their generous support and sponsorship of Afghan women`s programs.” He also called on other governmental and nongovernmental organizations to support women in Afghanistan for they have suffered most.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Kefayatullah Manager Media Managment Said,“ Representing Etisalat Telecommunication Company, first of all I would like to congratulate the women`s international day to all respected sisters. May Allah give all the women a better life in return of the day and the world witness positive changes in their life.” He added, “We at Etisalat believe in women`s capabilities too and we will be standing by them all the time.” In addition to this, some presents were provided for female journalists by Etisalat and were distributed along with certificates from JCUA to appreciate their work.
8 March International Women’s Day (IWD), is marked on March 8 every year. Nowadays this is a major day of global celebration of women. In different regions the focus of the celebrations ranges from general celebration of respect, appreciation and love towards women to a celebration for women’s economic, political and social achievements.
